About the work
What areas of North Carolina do you serve?
We serve Raleigh and the surrounding triangle — Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Durham, Chapel Hill, Morrisville, and Garner. If you are within roughly 30 miles of downtown Raleigh, we can almost certainly come look at the project. See our full service area for details.
How much does a typical interior painting project cost?
A single-room interior repaint in Raleigh typically runs $400 to $1,200 depending on wall surface area, ceiling height, prep work needed, and trim color. Whole-home interior repaints range widely with size — we don't quote those by the square foot because the variables matter too much. We provide a free written estimate after an on-site walk-through. The estimate is fixed-price (no surprise change orders), valid for 30 days.
How long does a typical project take?
A single-room interior repaint usually takes one to two working days including prep, two coats, and trim. A whole-home interior repaint is generally three to six working days depending on size. Kitchen cabinet refinishing is four to six working days because doors come off, get sprayed off-site, and need cure time before reinstall. Exterior repaints depend heavily on weather and home size — usually four to ten working days.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Tim's Perfect Painting is locally owned, fully insured for general liability, and operates in compliance with North Carolina law. Proof of insurance is available on request and we'll happily send a certificate of insurance for any HOA or commercial client that needs one.
Do you use subcontractors?
No. Every painter on the crew is employed directly. Tim runs every project personally and is on site daily. That's how we keep the finish consistent and accountability in one place.
Paint and color
What paint brands do you use?
We default to premium-tier acrylic paints from Sherwin-Williams (ProClassic, Emerald, Cashmere) and Benjamin Moore (Aura, Regal Select). We also work with Behr Marquee, Behr Premium Plus, and PPG when a customer prefers those lines. We will not use bargain-tier paint, even on request — the finish will not last and we won't warranty it.
Will you help me pick colors?
Yes. We bring swatch books and samples to the walk-through and walk through options for each room — wall color, ceiling color, trim color, and accent. For larger projects we can place sample panels on the wall so you can see the color in your own daylight before we commit two coats to it. There's no extra charge for color consultation.
Can you match an existing color?
Yes. We can color-match from a paint chip, a piece of trim, a fabric, or even a faded section of wall. Modern color-matching equipment at Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore is accurate to within a few percent of the original.
What about low-VOC or zero-VOC paint?
Most of the premium interior paints we use are already low-VOC by default. If you need zero-VOC specifically — for a nursery, for someone with chemical sensitivities, or for an indoor air quality reason — say so on the estimate request and we'll spec a zero-VOC product.
Scheduling and the day-of
How far out do you book?
Interior work usually books two to four weeks out. Exterior work books further out during peak season (April–September) and is highly weather-dependent. Smaller touch-up jobs we can often fit in within a week.
Do I need to be home?
Not necessarily. Many of our customers leave a key or door code and let us work while they're at work. We'll send a daily text with project status so you know exactly where we are.
Do I need to move furniture?
We will move and protect large furniture for you as part of the standard scope. Please move or store personal items, electronics, fragile décor, and items of sentimental value before we arrive.
Do you do exterior painting in winter?
We can do exterior painting in North Carolina between roughly mid-March and mid-November, weather permitting. We schedule exterior work around forecasted temperature, humidity, and rain. Most exterior paints need surface temperatures above 50°F to cure properly.
Payment and warranty
When do I pay?
For most residential projects, we accept payment in full upon completion and your walk-through approval. Larger projects may require a deposit not to exceed 30% before we start. We accept cash, check, ACH transfer, and major credit cards.
What is your warranty?
We warrant our workmanship for two years from project completion. If paint peels, blisters, or fails through no fault of yours, we repaint the affected area at no charge. Full details on the Terms page.
What if I'm not happy with a color once it's up?
It happens. Colors look different on a wall than they do on a swatch. If you want to change a color after the first coat, tell us — we'll repaint the room in your new color at our standard rate for materials plus labor. There's no penalty, just the extra time and paint.
